Tough Questions for Donald Trump

from America’s Families

The Christian Civic League of Maine and its national family policy alliance

say questions remain for Donald Trump

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Christian Civic League, and its national alliance of nearly 40 state-based family policy councils representing millions of Evangelicals nationwide, today released an open letter to presidential candidate Donald Trump calling on him to answer direct questions on his policy positions.

Paul Weber, president & CEO of CitizenLink, said, “Time is ticking, and we want Mr. Trump to clear up his contradictory record on issues Americans care about. We have invited Mr. Trump several times to join our Presidential Candidate Teleconference Series. He has yet to accept, and our constituents are left wondering.”

The Christian Civic League has not endorsed any candidate.  All leading conservative candidates have been invited to participate in CitizenLink’s Presidential Candidate Teleconferences. So far, Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, and former Gov. Jeb Bush have participated on the calls, as well as former Sen. Rick Santorum and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, prior to suspending their campaigns. Dr. Ben Carson is scheduled for later this month.

“With the recent passing of conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, the issues of marriage, life, religious liberty and the centrality of the family require even more focus,” Carroll Conley, Executive Director of the Christian Civic League, explained. “Mr. Trump’s public comments about nominating judges with the same temperament as his sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, who overturned the New Jersey Partial-Birth Abortion Ban, are particularly concerning to value voters here in Maine and across the United States.”

The Christian Civic League is dedicated to a nation where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive and life is cherished. Together, in alliance with nearly 40 family policy allies working within state capitols, the Christian Civic League promotes policy, equips and elects statesmen and unleashes biblical citizenship.
