Heard every Thursday on WHCF 88.5, Hodgdon/Houlton 93.7, Presque Isle 102.7; on WFST in Caribou at 5:20 pm and WTME in Lewiston/Auburn 780 and 1450 AM at 9:29 am and 1:29 pm M-F

According to the National Opinion Research Center, gambling addiction rates double for communities within an hour’s drive of a casino. And according to the National Research Council, a woman whose partner is a problem gambler is 10.5 times more likely to be a victim of domestic violence. It’s really not that complicated – – there are twice as many problem gamblers in communities proximate to a casino, and the partners of these problem gamblers are 10 times more likely to be abused. The last thing we need in Maine is another casino dumping it’s destructive and toxic forces  upon our families. Don’t be fooled by those who advocate for the so-called economic that good comes from casino revenues. Go to our Citizen Action Center to let your legislators know you are against LD 1280 and any gambling expansion.
