Was the recent vote by Congress to defund Planned Parenthood a pro-life victory or just a symbolic gesture to appease conservatives? As disappointed as many of us were with the passing of the Omnibus budget compromise, I believe that we need to give credit to the House and Senate for what was truly a meaningful accomplishment by proving they could get a pro-life bill crippling Planned Parenthood to the President’s desk. There was never any question the President would veto this bill, but the fact that the House and Senate were successful in getting it to his desk emphasizes how important it is for us to elect a pro-life presidential candidate. If pro-life majorities are maintained in the Congress (which seems likely) we could be looking at a similar bill landing on the desk of A pro-life President in 2017. That prospect can’t sit well with the pro-abortion crowd.
