    Two Churches Pledge Their Support

    February 15th, 2007

The League is raising up 500 churches to give $50 a month. The ministry is giving itself five years to reach the goal. This amount of funding will cover the regular annual operating costs for the century old pro-family ministry.

The League has been associated with the national mega-ministry "Focus on the Family" for 17 years. While the association benefits the League in many ways, the two ministries do not share financial resources. Focus on the Family does not fund the League.

The League is very prudent with the funds that it raises each year. Many people are surprised when they learn the size of the League's budget. The ministry is often quoted in the news, and has stood virtually alone against the homosexual juggernaught in Maine.

Recently the League's outspokenness led to the withdrawl of a politician's proposal to vaccinate 5th grade girls for a sexually transmitted disease. The proposal mandated the vaccine for girls attending public schools.

Churches and individuals who are interested in becoming part of the 500-50-5 program should email mike@cclmaine.org or call our office at 1-800-769-4132.

    Volunteers to the rescue

    February 15th, 2007

Wickedness entered the world with Satan's rebellion against God. The Bible declares, "What the wicked construct finally falls into ruin." As we watch wicked families and individuals fall into ruin all around us it is important to notice the good along with the bad. This Proverb ends, "while the roots of the righteous give life, and more life."

The League is blessed everyday by people who give, sometimes sacrificially. Today we have been blessed in multiple ways by givers.

The snow storm yesterday came at a bad time for the League. For a month we planned to get our mailing stuffed on Wednesday, Valentines Day. God had other things in mind, like a foot of snow. Needless to say we weren't blessed with enough volunteers yesterday. One brave soul ventured out into the whistling noreaster and worked until noon. We weren't surprised to see him. John Jordan is a former military special forces soldier. Snow is nothing to him!

The storm quieted yesterday afternoon for a short time, after which it turned to a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain. Overnight the storm generated heavy snow. This left us wondering whether we would be able to get the mailing out on time.

We create nearly 2,000 personalized letters each month. Each letter has a date on it. This makes it important for us to meet our deadlines.

God answered our prayers with four volunteers today making it possible for us to reach our deadline. The letters will go in the mail on Friday, February 16th.

We want to thank our volunteers who helped us this month. This ministry would not exist without donors and volunteers like Dan Hutchins, Cathy Basham, John Jordan, Jodi Shaw and Paulie Heath. THANK YOU!

The roots of the righteous give life, and more life. Our volunteers give the League life! If you would like to volunteer for the League please email mike@cclmaine.org The League has developed a two page volunteer form that we will mail out to you. You don't have to live in the Augusta area to be a League volunteer. We look forward to hearing from you.

    1972 Gay Rights Platform

    February 15th, 2007

    By Dallas E. Henry

Some years ago, probably over 10, I was privileged to attend a meeting in Lewiston that had a featured speaker, Dr. Judith Reisman, author of the book, Kinsey Sex and Lies. Dr. Reisman mentioned that this is the book that most all sex education curriculum in public schools is based on. During her remarks she shared some alarming information that she called "The Gay Agenda." I have never forgotten the information she shared.

Below is the actual agenda of the Homosexual Rights Movement from 35 years ago. It is still alarming and what's more, they are making significant progress. Every Pastor and Church leader needs to be fully informed about this. The Homosexual Activists are very serious and fully committed to see their agenda fully realized. We are their target since we represent morality which they are trying to redefine along with the term "family" and "marriage".

Please review their agenda and then browse the links provided at the end of this update.

    The 1972 Gay Rights Platform

In February 1972, the National Coalition of Gay Organizations met at the Armitage Avenue United Methodist Church in Chicago. An invitation had been sent out to 495 homosexual organizations across the U.S. to come and prepare a "gay stance for the 1972 elections."

About 200 individuals from 18 states representing 85 organizations showed up for the two-day event. Conference participants adopted the 1972 Gay Rights Platform, which included 17 federal and state "demands."

For over 30 years it has been the beacon of the homosexual movement in America. Back in 1972 their demands seemed so outlandish that nobody took them seriously. But gay activists have been extremely focused and relentless in achieving their goals. (Notice the bottom goal on the list.)

It gives an interesting perspective. If someone back then had suggested that we would be discussing this subject today and be in the position we're in, it would not only have been considered unbelievable, it truly would have been beyond the ability of the average person to imagine it.

    DEMANDS:

    Federal:

    1. Amend all federal Civil Rights Acts, other legislation and government controls to prohibit discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations and public services.

    2. Issuance by the President of an executive order prohibiting the military from excluding for reasons of their sexual orientation, persons who of their own volition desire entrance into the Armed Services; and from issuing less-than-fully-honorable discharges for homosexuality; and the upgrading to fully honorable all such discharges previously issued, with retroactive benefits.

    3. Issuance by the President of an executive order prohibiting discrimination in the federal civil service because of sexual orientation, in hiring and promoting; and prohibiting discrimination against homosexuals in security clearances.

    4. Elimination of tax inequities victimizing single persons and same-sex couples.

    5. Elimination of bars to the entry, immigration and naturalization of homosexual aliens.

    6. Federal encouragement and support for sex education courses, prepared and taught by Gay women and men, presenting homosexuality as a valid, healthy preference and lifestyle as a viable alternative to heterosexuality.

    7. Appropriate executive orders, regulations and legislation banning the compiling, maintenance and dissemination of information on an individual's sexual preferences, behavior, and social and political activities for dossiers and data banks.

    8. Federal funding of aid programs of Gay men's and women's organizations designed to alleviate the problems encountered by Gay women and men which are engendered by an oppressive sexist society.

    9. Immediate release of all Gay women and men now incarcerated in detention centers, prisons and mental institutions because of sexual offense charges relating to victimless crimes or sexual orientation; and that adequate compensation be made for the physical and mental duress encountered; and that all existing records relating to the incarceration be immediately expunged.

    State:

    1. All federal legislation and programs enumerated in Demands 1, 6, 7, 8 and 9 above should be implemented at the State level where applicable.

    2. Repeal of all state laws prohibiting private sexual acts involving consenting persons; equalization for homosexuals and heterosexuals for the enforcement of all laws.

    3. Repeal all state laws prohibiting solicitation for private voluntary sexual liaisons; and laws prohibiting prostitution, both male and female.

    4. Enactment of legislation prohibiting insurance companies and other state-regulated enterprises from discriminating because of sexual orientation, in insurance and in bonding or any other prerequisite to employment or control of one's personal demesne.

    5. Enactment of legislation so that child custody, adoption, visitation rights, foster parenting, and the like shall not be denied because of sexual orientation or marital status.

    6. Repeal of all laws prohibiting transvestism and cross-dressing.

    7. Repeal of all laws governing the age of sexual consent.

    8. Repeal of all legislative provisions that restrict the sex or number of persons entering into a marriage unit; and the extension of legal benefits to all persons who cohabitate regardless of sex or numbers. "The greatest single victory of the gay movement over the past decade has been to shift the debate from behavior to identity, thus forcing opponents into a position where they can be seen as attacking the civil rights of homosexual citizens."

    All Over but the Shouting

    February 12th, 2007

    By Michael Heath

I've been doing this job too long. I can remember when leftist activists were screaming about how there was no agenda, and there was especially no effort underway to persuade society to accept sodomy-based marriage. Those lies started to become muted when Vermont used their "sexual orientation" law to force a new concept on civilized society called "civil unions." That is another euphemism for sodomy-based marriage. Massachusetts, of course, followed soon after by discovering that the puritan Christian John Adams actually wrote sodomy-based marriage into the Commonwealth's constitution. Imagine that. No ... don't.

Nobody is surprised now when "gays" use euphemisms. I think people stopped being surprised by anything these folks say years ago. They are master manipulators, bobbing and weaving with their words and phrases. It's amazing to most of us that the Harvards and Yales have fallen for this tripe hook, line and sinker.

Get ready for another year or two of euphemism-laden media barrages from our leftist press here in Maine. Al Gore finally helped the "gays" here with the internet that he invented. They put out a ten minute youtube video last week announcing their plans to .... drum roll please .... bring sodomy-based marriage to Maine. Yawn.

Part of me says, "Oh please, get it over with" and pass your silly law. I know that's the "majority-of-Maine-people" part of me speaking cause I know that Mainers are sick-to-death of hearing about all things gay. I'm with my sons. When they were teens they started calling odd things "gay." Can you remember when the word "gay" meant gleeful and happy? If you can you're probably a bigot in the new dictionary that the Attorney General's office is cooking up with the help of his latest transgendering hero/scholar.

Oh, I'm sorry for sounding so cynical. I've got to tell you, however, that there is nothing standing in their way now. I honestly don't understand why they can't just get it over with and pass their silly law so they can accelerate the decline of the traditional family here in Maine. Maybe that will speed us to the time when it won't be just folks who read their Bibles who see through the nonsense and take a bit of time to do something about it.

Maybe the Nascar crowd will wake up and we can be done with the homosexualization of Maine, especially of our kids and grandkids. I'm not holding my breath.

Christians will never buy into the sodomy-based marriage mantra. My sense is, however, that most pastors already have given into the idea of the state defining civil marriage however it wants. Otherwise we would have seen more courage in 2005 when we fought the last statewide homosexual rights battle.

You may remember that the Catholic Chancery once again supported homosexual rights in 2005 (they also supported it in 1998, but were neutral in 2000). They were like America is all too often. They knowingly sold arms to an enemy who is only too willing to use those arms against the nation from whom they were purchased. While they were conceding the moral high ground to sexual orientation theorists the Chancery was saying that they will defend the concept of civil marriage to the death. It will be fascinating to watch the elephants of Roman Catholicism and homosexuality dance here in Maine ... fight I mean. You know what they say about elephants dancing. It's best to stay out of their way, otherwise you might get trampled underfoot.

Nope, I think it's all over but the shouting here in the liberal northeast. Bring it on.

I'll keep polishing my stones and looking for the right time and place to unleash them on this pink Goliath. I know the people are with me in their hearts because if they weren't then they wouldn't be reasonable, happy and full of common sense. Maine people really are gay!

"The Way Life Should Be: Homosexual Marriage in Maine" Three Same-Sex Couples Tell Their Stories in New Video

To receive a copy of the video for review, please contact Carisa Cunningham at ccunningham@glad.org or (800) 455-4523.

Melissa and Angela have been together 11 years and are raising a young son. Steve and Jim, together for 30 years, run a small business. Rita and Sara Jane have eight grandchildren between them, and have been together for 25 years. All three Maine couples would like to get married - but they can't.

In the new video, "The Way Life Should Be: Homosexual Marriage in Maine," all six born-and-bred Mainers tell the stories of their lives and relationships, and why they want to marry in Maine. They discuss everything from parenting to aging, and how their exclusion from marriage affects their lives legally, emotionally, and socially.

In the United States, same-sex couples can currently marry only in Massachusetts.

In Steve's words, "I don't think there's anything I'd rather do than get married to Jim."

The video can be viewed on YouTube and will be shown at house parties across the state. In conjunction with national Freedom to Marry Week (February 11-17), "The Way Life Should Be: Homosexual Marriage in Maine" is also being sent to cable access stations.

The video is a production of EqualityMaine, the Maine Civil Liberties Union (MCLU), and Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), who worked with filmmaker Molly O'Neill of Moped Productions on the 12-minute video.

EqualityMaine works to secure full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in Maine through political action, education, and collaboration. We envision a Maine where LGBT persons and their families have full equality in the hearts and minds of Maine people and in all areas of the law.

Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders is New England's leading legal rights organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and HIV status. GLAD is active in all six New England states.
