43rd Annual Central Maine Christian Educators' Conference

| Conference General Session |
The 43rd Annual Central Maine Christian Educators' Conference was held Saturday, September 23, at Reeds Brook Middle School in Hampden. The conference attracted over eighty Christian educators, and included three workshop sessions, and two general session addresses by Local Church Evangelism founder Rev. Wendell Calder of Newport. Approximately ten Christian groups brought information to display to the conference participants, including The Shepherd's Godparent Home, Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine, the New England Bible College, Fair Haven Camps, and the Christian Civic League of Maine.

Pastor David Ray, Jr. began the conference with a call to prayer. Pastor Edward Jaworski of Corinna led the conference in hymns of worship, singing The Church's One Foundation and Worthy, You Are Worthy among other songs of praise. Rev. Wendell Calder then gave the conference an insightful and thought-provoking sermon on Road to Revival: Wake-Up Call 9-1-1. In his sermon, Dr. Calder tied the events of September 11, 2001 to the life of the prophet Isaiah, specifically as detailed in Chapter 6 of the Book of Isaiah in Scripture.

He recounted how Isaiah had acknowledged, then repented of his sin. He noted how after being forgiven of his sin, Isaiah was then challenged by the Lord to speak the Word of God to the people. Dr. Calder encouraged the conference to be like Isaiah and when called upon by the Lord to reply, "Here am I. Send me!" (Isaiah 6 : 8).
After Dr. Calder's general session sermon, the conference then broke into the first of three workshop sessions. The sessions included Bringing Others to Jesus, led by Dr. Calder, God's Living Word and Are You My Neighbor? led by Brad Walker, Seven Laws of the Lerner led by Pastor Leonard Reiss, Connecting with Our Culture While Keeping True to the Gospel led by Andy Spohrer, Ministering to Children and Sexual Offenders Under the Same Roof led by Pastor Roger Davis, Forget Me Not led by Pastor Russell Hamilton, The Four D's of Sexually Educating Christian Youth led by Pastor Bill Johnson, and Discerning & Defining Deity led by Pastor Daryl Witmer.
