This past weekend Free Indeed Ministries partnered with the Boothbay Baptist Church in the "Change is Possible" seminar. The once conservative quaint region has experienced significant changes in recent years. The village of Boothbay is decorated with rainbow flags and other symbols of homosexual advocacy and "diversity."

However, there wasn't much tolerance extended to Pastor Dan McNutt
last week. Pastor Dan worked with local leaders to bring the event to Boothbay Regional High School. He also placed an announcement in the local paper. Any such announcement highlighting an event about gay and lesbian issues would have gone virtually unnoticed. However, that was hardly the case in this situation.

In fact, the local superintendent of schools called Pastor Dan and told him that she had been inundated with threatening emails and phone calls for the past 24 hours. She then went on to ask him to change the venue of the event. Mr. McNutt courageously responded that the school had put his son through several days of 'their side of the story' and it was time that the other side was also shared. Pastor said, "We will not be changing the venue."

I arrived to a relatively quiet parking lot. The scene would shortly change as several young people arrived with signs stating, "Boothbay Won't Discriminate." I asked one of the protesters why he had concluded that I was discriminating when he hadn't even heard my message; he wasn't sure what to say. Just before 6:00 pm, when the event was to begin, the protestors filed into the auditorium and sat in on the presentation. I was amazed! One of the protestors was overheard after the presentation saying, "Well, I thought I knew who I was when this started, now I am not so sure." Isn't God good!

The audience, though mostly composed of oppositional viewpoints, was extremely courteous throughout the whole presentation; it was truly a joy to participate in and observe!
