Why Were Maine's Abortion and Homosexual Groups There?

What is noteworthy about this Kennebec Journal news article is not what staff writer Matthew Stone reported, but the questions he did not ask, and that remain unanswered.

It is clear to us that the radical pro-abortion groups Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and the Maine Women's Lobby are for socialized medicine so our goverment tax dollars will pay directly for the killing of pre-born children through abortions.  This is not brought up in the article, however.  The question of why they were there is unasked, and largely unanswered.

What is even less clear, however, is the presence of the homosexual lobbying group, EqualityMaine.  After the League reported on Maine's first annual homosexual disease summit (all fully funded with State of Maine tax dollars), it struck us that a primary concern of the few transsexuals and transgendered in Maine voiced at the summit is that there are no doctors or hospitals that perform sex-change operations in Maine.  Only Boston, Canada, and other far-flung locations provide this surgery.

Surely, under a national socialized medicine system, these abortions and sex-change operations would be paid for with our tax dollars.  Perhaps that is why the radical abortion and homosexual lobbies were out in force, sweating outside on the Statehouse steps this week.

Too bad the Kennebec Journal reporter didn't ask the "why" portion of what they teach in Reporting 101.

Rally seeks better health care, cheaper

"Calling it the first order of business for a new president and Congress, speakers from a collective of advocacy groups launched a campaign on the Statehouse steps Tuesday morning urging politicians in Augusta and Washington, D.C., to take action on health care.

"The Maine People's Alliance and the Maine Women's Lobby collaborated with union leaders, Maine Equal Justice Partners, Engage Maine, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, EqualityMaine and the Maine Center for Economic Policy to announce the push."
