League Delivers Relief to Flood Victims in Fort Kent

Pastor Lawrence Beals holds Bangor Daily News Headlining the disaster
I ended Thursday night, the National Day of Prayer, in Mars Hill at a prayer meeting, and started Friday morning with preachers!  I joined some pastors for breakfast.  We lamented the situation in Fort Kent, and all pledged to do what we could.  One pastor asked if any non-monetary help was needed.  I told him that I didn't know, at that point.

My son, Jared, is with me on the trip.  He is driving, helping out dear ole dad.  I feel safe having a U.S. Marine Corp Corporal in the drivers seat, even if he is only 19 years old.  Ooooh  Ahhh!

Aerial photograph of the worst flooding ever on the Fish River in Fort Kent
After breakfast we made a couple media stops and arrived in Fort Kent before noon.  We were slowed in our journey by a full-size pick up truck towing a giant orange high-capacity pump.  He was, no doubt, headed for a basement in the flooded town.

The flood had receeded dramatically by the time we arrived on the scene, but the water was still visible in many places where it didn't belong.  Clouds floated lazily in a deep blue northern Maine sky.  The angry flood waters of the St. John showed no interest in putting a reflected sky blue smile on its surface.  On the contrary the river's water was in a foul muddy mood as it rushed to the atlantic, to the relief of some weary victims, I'm sure.

Maine's Collins "Grateful" For Pro-Homosexual Endorsement
HRC Nod Due In Part to GOP Senator's Pro-Transgendered Office Policies

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins
The pro-homosexual, pro-transgendered Human Rights Campaign announced its endorsement of U.S. Senator Susan Collins for re-election on April 28, a development that garnered very little media coverage within Maine.

Both Collins and the HRC responded with comment on the endorsement:  Sen. Collins said, "I am grateful to have the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign..."  Brad Luna, HRC Spokesman said (emphasis added), "Sen. Susan Collins is a strong ally for the GLBT [Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, & Transgendered] community, supporting a fully inclusive [federal] employment protection bill, a fully inclusive [federal] hate crimes bill, and funding for critical HIV/AIDS programs."

Lisette Fee, Member Services Manager at the HRC, gave a fourth and fifth reason for the endorsement:  Collins's own policy on the hiring and promotion of homosexuals, bisexuals, and the transgendered, both in her Washington, D.C. and Maine U.S. Senate offices, and Collins's repeated opposition to the Federal [Traditional] Marriage Amendment.

League Responds to Northern Maine Flooding
Much of downtown Fort Kent is under water today.
After learning the extent of the flooding in northern Maine, Michael S. Heath,  Executive Director of the Christian Civic League of Maine, interrupted a busy schedule Thursday to meet with church leaders in Aroostook County to determine how the League can help victims of the flood. It was reported early Thursday morning that over one hundred homes in Fort Kent were flooded by the St. John and Fish rivers.  Flood stage for the Fish River is 11 feet, but early Thursday morning, the river exceeded 14.5 feet.  Downtown Fort Kent was evacuated, as were the residents of a housing complex for senior citizens.  Onlookers expressed shock at seeing homes moved from their foundations and drifting downstream. Over six hundred families were evacuated.  Many in Fort Kent are reported to have lost their homes or livelihoods.

Scontras, Summers Spar Over Social Issues at Debate
Summers Unequivocally Supports Abortion, Homosexual Civil Unions

Pro-Life Scontras Addresses Audience
Scontras was the only Congressional candidate asked directly by moderator Justin Ellis of the Portland Press Herald about his opinion on homosexual marriage.  "I would support a [U.S.] Constitutional Amendment on [traditional] marriage," Scontras said.

"As for whether I support gay marriage: no, I do not," concluded Scontras.

"Charlie [Summers] supports a woman's right to choose [abortion]," said his wife unequivocally.  Ruth Summers went on to say that he believes women can do with their own bodies what they want.

She said plainly that Charlie Summers supports homosexual civil unions.  Turning to face a group of homosexuals in the audience which included EqualityMaine's Public Policy Director Darlene Huntress, Summers raised her voice and quipped, "[Homosexuals] should have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us [heterosexuals]."

Get 'em while they're young -- TAKE ACTION TODAY

The Maine Women's Policy Center (MWPC) is proselytizing 100 8th grade girls tomorrow (Thursday, March 27th) at the State House

The MWPC is the educational arm of the Maine Women's Lobby (MWL), the most liberal advocacy group in Maine.  The MWL was among a small number of groups supporting the direct public funding of abortion last year.  They tried to force pro-life citizens to give nearly $300,000 of their hard earned money to pay for the abortions of Maine's most vulnerable citizens -- her poor and needy.  The bill was killed in committee.

The executive director of the MWL, Sarah Standiford, testified at the public hearing on the taxpayer funding of abortion bill.  She called abortion a "fundamental right" and suggested that access to abortion is "prohibited for low-income women."  Abortion is not prohibited in Maine.  Any woman can get an abortion for any reason.

Maine's Publicly-Funded "Gay" FrostbiteME 2008 Weekend
Homosexual Events include AIDS Clinic Open House, Children's Museum Free Admission

Portland, Maine is playing host to the homosexual community's inaugural FrostbiteME 2008 weekend on March 7, 8, and 9.  The event's motto is "A GLBT [Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgendered] + Friends Event, Portland, Maine," and it is being organized by the newly created GayMaine.org website.

Many of Maine's largest businesses, and at least two governmental entities: the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Portland and the Amtrak Downeaster, have given significant financial support to the homosexual weekend's efforts.  Other family-friendly entertainment venues, such as the Children's Museum of Maine, the Portland (ME) Pirates hockey club, and the Sunday River ski resort offer steep discounts or free admission in honor of the weekend, but only if homosexuals show their FrostbiteME 2008 badges.

According to the GayMaine.org website: "FrostbiteME 2008 is the first-ever event of GayMaine.org, a grassroots effort to develop a vibrant and connected GLBT [Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgendered] and friends community in Southern Maine."  In all, fifty-four Southern Maine businesses are listed as financial sponsors of, or have discounted services specifically due to, the homosexual FrostbiteME 2008 weekend.

Obama pounds pulpit for gay causes

Presidential candidate Barak Obama is bold about his support for anti-family causes.  Yet, many Christians are supporting him.  Popular evangelical megachurch pastor, Rick Warren, invited him to speak at his church in California last year.  Obama attends an ultra-liberal UCC church in Chicago.

The Southern Baptist Church published a story about Obama.  They wrote, "Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama sought the support of voters in the homosexual community Feb. 28, telling them in a letter that if elected president he would work to pass laws important to that constituency and would use the 'bully pulpit' to urge states to grant same-sex couples the legal benefits of marriage."

Obama says he would support reading books about "gay marriage" to second graders.  The book cover pictured here is from a book that is being used in the Massachusetts public school system to promote homosexuality to very young children.

President Bush Attends National Prayer Breakfast

Every President since Dwight Eisenhower has attended the National Prayer Breakfast -- and I am really proud to carry on that tradition. The people in this room come from many different walks of faith. Yet we share one clear conviction: We believe that the Almighty hears our prayers -- and answers those who seek Him.

I believe in the power of prayer, because I have felt it in my own life. Prayer has strengthened me in times of personal challenge. It has helped me meet the challenges of the presidency. I understand now clearly the story of the calm in the rough seas.

And so at this final prayer breakfast as your President, I thank you for your prayers, and I thank our people all across America for their prayers. We have so much work to do for our country, and with the help of the Almighty, we will build a freer world -- and a safer, more hopeful, more noble America.
