City Council Trades Votes for Lives

Bible-based predictions about social trends often come true, but rarely as quickly as in the case of Club OTR, a bar in downtown Augusta which has justifiably earned a very bad reputation. In a press release issued during the first week of January, the Christian Civic League predicted that Club OTR would again become a source of trouble despite  assurances to the contrary by its owner and the Augusta City Council. True to our prediction, the bar has relapsed into its old ways.

The Record was the first media outlet to call attention to the serious nature of the trouble at the bar. In a story published on New Year's Eve, The Record reported that young people flock to Club OTR where the liquor is so plentiful and cheap, that they often pass out on the way home, or wind up in emergency rooms to be treated for alcohol poisoning.  In addition, fights are a common sight in a nearby parking lot after young men pour out of the bar at closing time.

Ailing Pro-Life Advocate Holds Vigil in the Cold

Scott Michaud tears up while speaking of one of his greatest triumphs through God.
Michaud, whose single-minded mission is to “end child killing,” happened to be at the local Wal-Mart last November. A little girl came running over to him. “She came up to me in the grocery department,” Michaud recalled, “and she said, ‘my mom wants to say something to you.’ The mother said, ‘never stop, because you saved my granddaughter.’

“Now I can never stop. There is no greater joy, there is nothing I can do that can bring greater joy. Nothing, nothing, nothing. I’m going to be an emotional wreck because of that.”

MHRC Transgendered Schoolboy 'Rights' Press Release
The Christian Civic League of Maine has issued the following press release in response to the Maine Human Rights Commission issuance of transgendered schoolchildren ‘rights’ proposed guidelines:

The Christian Civic League of Maine is appalled by the latest outrage by radical homosexual activists.  Gay activists have disclosed new state guidelines requiring schools to allow young children to have access to facilities of the opposite sex.  Under the proposed guidelines, boys who self-identify as female will have access to girls' sports teams and cheerleading squads, girls' bathrooms, and girls' locker rooms.

The Christian Civic League of Maine calls on all Maine parents to attend these upcoming public meetings and voice their strong opposition to the proposed 'guidelines.'  Further, the League calls on all citizens to protect their vulnerable children from the homosexual lobby and their enablers in Augusta by contacting their state legislators and stating their firm opposition to these proposed Maine Human Rights Commission 'guidelines.'

From a Dungeon to the State Capital

In March 2006, following the referendum which approved Governor Baldacci's sexual orientation law, The Record made a startling prediction. The Record predicted that the immoral behavior associated with the homosexual rights movement would someday prove to be its ownfall.

It goes beyond the bounds of decency to describe what happened in the basement of the house on Henry Street. That is better left to newspapers and television, and the headlines which even at this very moment are making their way around the globe.  Suffice it to say that the advocate of homosexual 'marriage' referred to the scene of his crime as "The Dungeon."

State Capital Braces for Night of Drunken Revelry

While offices in the state capital emptied out early Thursday in anticipation of New Year's Eve and an approaching snow storm, bars in downtown Augusta and nearby Hallowell were preparing for the busiest night of the year.

Each bar in Augusta has its own special clientele. One bar a half mile from the State House caters to working class drinkers, and offers a gritty, redneck atmosphere. By six o'clock on New Year's Eve, hopeless alcoholics, looking ragged and forlorn, were already bellying up to the bar for a night of hard drinking. Later in the evening, young professionals poured into another bar on the other side of town, a bar with a more exotic, foreign look. The wildest time was expected at a popular downtown bar which sells $2 drinks to young people. At $2 a drink, this bar sells so much booze that young people pass out on the way home, and are sent to emergency rooms to have their stomachs pumped. Police calls to the bar are frequent.

Media Blackout on Biggest Story of Year

With New Year's Day fast approaching, news outlets in Maine are recapping the top news stories of 2009.  Noticeably absent from anyone's list of the top ten stories is the story of Bruce LaVallee Davidson. Davidson is the same sex marriage advocate charged with killing a "gay" South Portland resident, Fred Wilson.

The Record began following the story after learning that LaVallee Davidson made a heart-wrenching appeal for same sex marriage at the public hearing at the Civic Center in Augusta on April 22nd.  Davidson, standing alongside his homosexual partner Buck, claimed that he and his partner "were already married in the eyes of God." Four days earlier, LaVallee Davidson allegedly shot and killed Fred Wilson with a .44 caliber handgun after a night of drug and alcohol-fueled debauchery.

WICKED

The firing of a Waterville Sentinel reporter and his wife just in time for the holidays is raising serious questions about the limits of tolerance within the liberal establishment.  The reporter, Larry Grard, was ostensibly fired by the paper for sending a personal email on a company computer.  The real reason behind his firing was that Grard dared question the heavy-handed tactics used by the nation's largest homosexual rights organization, the Human Rights Campaign.  In a reply to a press release put out by the HRC explaining their loss on Question 1, Grard stated the obvious: that the same-sex marriage movement is itself hateful and intolerant.

Just as Larry and Lisa Grard were deprived of their livelihood after years of faithful service, others have risen to positions of power and influence by espousing very different views on religion. Occultists, in contrast to Christians, meet with no resistance from politicians who hypocritically demand a strict separation of church and state.

What's Inside Apple Valley Books?

With its colorful exterior, Apple Valley Books is certainly the most cheerful looking store in the small town of Winthrop, Maine.  Painted yellow and blue, the storefront resembles a toy store more than a bookstore,  and the colorful colors cry out "Come in! Have fun and enjoy our wares!"

The customer opens the door to see a brightly-lit, well-kept store. There on the right, however, is an unusual sight. Atop a tall bookshelf sits a large, green horned devil. The visitor quickly passes by, past rows of bookshelves with nondescript books, and nothing remarkable meets the eye until the section  marked "Teenage."  Curiously, the top three shelves of this "Teenage" section offer one paranormal-themed book after another.

A Lesson in Hypocrisy

The recent firing of a reporter from a Waterville daily paper is shedding light on the dark corners of the liberal establishment in Maine.

The reporter, Larry Grard of the Waterville Sentinel, was fired for sending an email reply to a press release put out by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest homosexual rights organization. The press release blamed the outcome of the November 3rd election on hatred of homosexuals. In reply, Grard stated that gay activists, and not Christians, are the ones spreading hate. Not only was Grard fired, the paper also fired Grard's wife, Lisa, a freelance columnist for the paper.
