A confused twelve year old boy is now using the girls bathroom at a Middle School in Orono, Maine. The school administration is protecting and supporting the boys use of the girls bathroom. Paul Melanson, a grandfather of a student at the school, is objecting to the practice.
Melanson told his grandson to use the girls bathroom himself, if he discovers the other boy using it. After the grandson entered the girls bathroom the grandfather was called into the school office and told that his grandson risked expulsion if he continued using the girl's bathroom. The school administration insists that the transgendering 12 year old is a "special needs" child. Melanson told them they were discriminating against his grandson. Melanson is refusing to back down.
He was told to go see the Superintendent by the Principal. Melanson is waiting to hear from the Superintendent.
Maine passed a law in 2005 that protects transgenderism.
League director Mike Heath pledged assistance to Melanson and his son. Heath called the practice pathetic on his radio show, Faith Matters in Maine. Heath interviewed Melanson this afternoon. The interview can be heard here. The program is entitled "Fifth grade Transvestitism in Maine."
