ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
“The desert and the parched land will
be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the
crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and
shout for joy! The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the
splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the
LORD, the splendor of our God! Strengthen the feeble hands,
steady the knees that give way! Say to those with a fearful
heart “Be strong, do not fear! your God will come…” (Isaiah
35:1-4)
QUOTATIONS ON PERSISTENCE
“The heights by great men reached and
kept
were not attained by sudden flight;
but they, while their companions slept,
were toiling upward in the night.”
(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)
“Energy
and persistence conquer all things.”
(Benjamin Franklin)
“Never give in! Never give in! Never,
never, never. Never -- in anything great or small, large or
petty -- never give in except to convictions of honor and good
sense."
(Winston Churchill)
MIKE HEATH DELIVERS SPEECH AT
BOWDOIN COLLEGE
The crowd that gathered to hear Mike
Heath speak at Bowdoin Monday night turned out to be much larger
than anyone expected. A room had been set aside for seventy
students, but over three hundred arrived. Even after the venue
was changed to a larger room, many students were left without
seats and remained standing in the aisles.
Most of those who attended were
students wearing yellow T-shirts to show their solidarity with
the gay rights movement. Nonetheless there seemed to be a keen
interest on the part of the students, protestor and
non-protestors alike, to hear the speech, which kept their
attention riveted until the very end. Following the speech, Mike
Heath and Pastor Sandy Williams, the Chairman of the Coalition
for Marriage, held a question and answer session, during which
time the protestors got out of hand with cat-calls and jeers,
requiring the organizers of the event to tell them to quiet
down. Although Mike Heath and Sandy Williams were not shouted
down, the crowd was unruly, and when the question and answer
session was over, two of the protestors apologized to Mike Heath
for the behavior of the crowd. The League also received an
e-mail from a student at Bowdoin who supports gay rights, but
said that the behavior at the event was uncalled for.
Nonetheless, Mike Heath commented that
he feels the event was worthwhile since it gave the students an
entirely different perspective from what they are used to
hearing. This also seems to be the opinion of State
Representative Michael Vaughan who wrote on As Maine Goes that
none of the students seemed to have heard any of the information
presented to them by Mike Heath, and that this information
“challenged their core belief systems.” Vaughan then went on to
compliment the college Republicans for holding the event.
The
RECORD RECEIVES FAN MAIL FROM OVERSEAS
Yesterday, The RECORD received the
following fan mail from a Christian in Uganda. We were pleased
to hear the comments of a reader from overseas, and encouraged
to know that there are still those who have a heart for the
Biblical truth.
Dear RECORD:
Thank you so very much for the great
work you are doing on the web. It is one more voice of
righteousness on the net that is so infested with obscenity. God
bless your efforts to make a difference.
Yours, Joseph Mulungi in Uganda
Editor's Note: Thank you for your
kind letter Joseph! Everyone at The RECORD wishes you all the
best!
Quick Update:
OMEARA SAYS "GO TO CCLMAINE.ORG"
While we will have more to say in the
Thursday issue of the RECORD about last night's much anticipated
face off between Ted O'Meara and Mike Heath at the University of
Maine at Orono we are pleased to report that Mr. OMeara publicly
invited people to read the online RECORD. We couldn't be more
thrilled for our readers. Thanks to our readers for making us
the most interesting read on the net. OMeara was a spokesman
for big media in Maine and now leads the pro homosexual group
"Maine Won't Discriminate."
