THE INTIMIDATION NOW
An Open Letter to the Public from Michael
S. Heath, Executive Director of the Christian Civic League of Maine
Yesterday the League learned that certain
public school teachers in Massachusetts were “strongly advised” to
wear a rainbow ribbon in support of “National Coming-out Day.” One
teacher commented that he believed that if he refused to wear the
ribbon he might lose his job. Imagine if teachers had been required
to wear yellow “Support the Troops” ribbons! The ACLU would never
let us forget it. Coercing someone into wearing a banner, ribbon,
or badge in support of a cause with which he disagrees is profoundly
un-American. I might even say it reeks of totalitarianism.
It is time to expose the gay rights
movement for what it really is. As happened in the McCarthy hearings
in the fifties, the power to threaten and intimidate, if left
unchecked, will grow and multiply until decent people are at last
forced to stand up and say, “This far, and no farther!” What we have
in our nation today is McCarthyism in reverse, as the backers of the
homosexual rights movement have risen to key positions of power
within our institutions. All those who refuse to accept
homosexuality as normal are smeared as “bigoted” and “intolerant.”
My recent experiences on college campuses have made it clear to me
that homosexuals are not a persecuted minority, as they are eager to
have us believe. Rather, they and their allies on the left now hold
the reigns of power in government, the media, and in academia, and
it is the good men and women of America who are marginalized and
discriminated against.
Let me make one thing absolutely clear.
This cannot be allowed to continue. It is totally unacceptable for
homosexual “relationships” to be taught in our schools as normal.
They are not normal. Every statistic pertaining to health, crime,
and longevity bears this out. Yet we are told to turn a blind eye to
this obvious truth. Were it not for the power of the “homosexual
rights movement” and its backers within government, the media, and
in academia, this would never be tolerated.
We have received reports that the
University of Maine at Farmington allows homosexual couples to share
dorm rooms, but excludes married couples and men and women who wish
to live together. If true, this is a glaring abuse of power, and a
clear case of discrimination.
After delivering my speech at the
University of Maine at Farmington, a speech based on Christian
principles and Christian truth, an irate woman, a professor I
believe, approached me, and in a loud voice told me that I was
“scum…a pig… a monster pig.”
This was no isolated incident. Anyone brave
enough to challenge the power of the homosexual rights movement
routinely meets with intimidation and abuse. Our experience at the
Christian Civic League has been the same. On one occasion our
website was replaced with pornography and obscenities. On another
occasion, the sign outside our headquarters was smeared with red
paint, an upside down cross, and the word “666.” On another
occasion, a pro-family activist received a bomb threat, forcing his
young children and his wife to stand outside in the snow while a
police bomb squad searched his house.
Such tactics are meant to force the
opponents of “gay rights” into silence. But I for one will not be
silent. Today, I am taking this opportunity to warn all the people
of Maine about the true nature of the “homosexual rights movement.”
It is not a movement to protect the rights of a persecuted minority.
It is a movement run on behalf of a small minority who seek to
impose their mistaken beliefs about marriage, sexuality, and the
family on the rest of society. If necessary, they will use coercion
and intimidation to achieve their ends. For this reason alone, the
homosexual rights movement is a danger to society.
I am therefore calling on all fair-minded
people to join with me in opposing the homosexual rights movement in
Maine, a movement which enjoys the favor and protection of elites
within the media, the corporate world, and in government, as it
carries on its work of demoralization and destruction. Nothing less
than the survival of marriage and the family is at stake, and I call
on all Mainers to rise to the occasion. – Michael S. Heath
A RETROSPECTIVE ON THE LESBIAN-GAY
TRANSGENDER EXPO IN THE STATE HOUSE
In July, The RECORD ran an item on a
“Gay-Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Expo” that was held in the State
Capitol Building not far from Governor John Baldacci’s office.
During this expo, children on a tour of the Capitol Building took
condoms from a display table manned by transvestites.
We thought this item was so relevant to the
current debate over “gay rights,” we decided to reprint it here.
Please note that one of the transvestites “manning” the display
table where the school children picked up the condoms bears a
strange resemblance to “Queen Elantra” who was the “Queen” of last
year’s “Gay Pride Parade” in Portland.
“The
photo at the right shows seventh graders from the Hodgkins School in
Augusta being led to the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Expo at
the State Capitol.
While they passed through the expo,
children were allowed to take condoms from tables manned by
transvestites and "transgendered" individuals.
Within ready reach of the children were a
variety of materials promoting and extolling the homosexual
lifestyle. Though most of the pamphlets and fliers were geared to an
adult audience, one of the fliers on the tables was designed for
children. The fliers, which gave the impression of being done in
crayons, advertised “Drop in Meetings: where gay, Lesbian, Bisexual
and “questioning youth” could “play games, watch videos, cook meals
together, and just hang out” The flier assured the readers that
their participation would be kept confidential. The flier said that
those who visited the ‘Drop in Meetings” would be encouraged to talk
about anything with each other or with “trusted adults.’” - from

OPPOSE
THE MEA’S SUPPORT FOR THE HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA
The MEA is listed as a “key strategic
partner” on the Maine Won’t Discriminate website. Small wonder,
since radical homosexual activists could hope for no better ally
than the public school teachers of Maine.
But who gave the MEA the green light to
teach our children the dangerous lesson that homosexuality and the
homosexual lifestyle are normal and acceptable? Certainly not the
people of Maine! No vote was ever taken; no study was ever done to
gain the opinion and advice of the people of Maine. Instead, the
homosexual agenda was imposed on the children of Maine from the top
down, without the advice or consent of their parents.
The MEA needs to know that it is the
parents of Maine who will determine just what is and what is not a
family. The people of Maine will not allow their children to be
indoctrinated with a harmful hidden agenda in order to please the
whims of a radical special interest group.
You can use the League’s Citizen Action
Center to send an e-mail to the Maine Education Association
demanding that they immediately take action to respect FAMILY
RIGHTS, not SPECIAL RIGHTS. Click

NINTH GRADER TAKES A STAND FOR
FAMILY RIGHTS
The RECORD recently received the text of a
speech given by a bright young girl in a debate at her school over
“gay rights.” Her sound common sense and love of the Bible shine
through her remarks. It is a sad commentary on our society that we
are forced to omit her name for fear of reprisals at her school and
elsewhere.
Congratulations, D.T.! You are a very
special person, and a skilled debater!
Resolved: Same-sex marriage should not be
legal
I’m on the affirmative. According to the
‘Lectric Law Library’s Lexicon, the definition of marriage is: A
contract made in due form of law, by which a free man and a free
woman engage to live with each other during their joint lives, in
the union which ought to exist between husband and wife.
The United States of America needs to
define the marriage law. If homosexuals are allowed to legally
marry, wouldn’t it be logical to allow polygamists to legally marry
also? What line do we draw? When will we draw it?
If it’s true that there are no absolutes
and everything is relative I should be able to base my next idea on
the Bible. Back in the beginning of creation, God made Adam. He saw
that Adam was lonely. God drew Adam into a deep sleep. There He
performed our first known surgery. He took a rib from Adam and
created a woman. God was happy with what He created and told Adam
and Eve to be fruitful and create new life. Here we see our first
“couple.” Throughout the Bible many “couples” are found. Mary and
Joseph, Isaac and Rebecca, Moses and his wife, Moses’ sons and their
wives are a few good examples of what marriage should be. It worked
then and today it still works.
According to the Human Rights Campaign, the
best estimate was 2.4 percent of all men and 2 percent of all women
are homosexuals. How is it fair to let under 5 percent of all
people make the decision to recreate the family?
Asking the people of our society to accept
Homosexuality is asking them to just be less moral and that’s the
last thing our society needs! According to a map of the United
States, on CNN.com, only Massachusetts permits same sex marriage and
five states banned it. Right there we see five states strongly
opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage and only one state is for
legalizing same-sex marriage. The rest of the states are unsure.
Should we jump into something without the majority? It’s impossible
for a constitutional amendment to pass without at least two-thirds
majority of both houses for Congress to pass it. Then the proposal
would need the approval of three-fourths of the state legislatures
to be ratified. How is this possible if not even half of the states
have made up their minds?
In conclusion, I would like to say that
this report is not discriminating against anyone. These are simply
facts that are important to the United States of America and its
well being. Legalizing same-sex marriage will hurt the country.
Jumping into legalizing same-sex marriage would not be smart at this
point in time because of the ignorance of the subject. This is not
about discriminating but about protecting the United States from a
lot of trouble in the future.” – by D.T.
