MAINE
SUNDAY TELEGRAM REPORTS RESULTS OF BIASED STUDY
It is becoming increasingly
clear that both the Maine Sunday Telegram and the
Portland Press Herald have one overriding objective, and
that is to act as a sounding board for the homosexual
rights movement. But since public trust in the liberal
media is now at an all time low, one would think that
the media would try to disguise their partisan agenda a
bit more cleverly.
Over the weekend the Maine
Sunday Telegram ran an editorial proclaiming the results
of a study by forty-seven lawyers as conclusive proof
that there is no connection between the Governor's
sexual orientation law and same-sex marriage. What they
did not tell the public however is that Governor John
Baldacci’s brother was one of the lawyers participating
in the study. Nor did they tell their readers that
another participant was Senator Barry Hobbins, the same
lawyer who guided the law through the Legislature.
A basic principle of all such
studies is that those conducting the study must have no
stake in the claims they are making. The public must be
extremely suspicious of anyone who arrives at
conclusions which support the position or product of his
own organization – and that includes the brother of the
Governor.
We are therefore taking this
opportunity to ask The Maine Sunday Telegram the
following questions. What is the name of this study
group? Where and when did they meet? And most
importantly, who were the participants other than John
Baldacci’s brother and Senator Barry Hobbins?
Until these questions are
answered, the results of the study are absolutely
worthless, and the editorial in the Maine Sunday
Telegram must be regarded as another ham-fisted attempt
to advance the cause of the homosexual rights movement.
In the wake of the Dan Rather
scandal, and the revelation that some reporters at
prominent liberal newspapers outside our state simply
make up their stories as they go along, trust in the
media is at an all time low. Reporting the results of a
biased study as fact will remove whatever trust remains,
and rightly so. – by Fritz Spencer
ZERO TOLERANCE FOR
DISSENT AS ACTIVISTS OPPOSE MIKE HEATH’S VISIT TO UM AT
FARMINGTON
The Maine College Republicans
are reporting that Mike Heath’s visit to the UM campus
at Farmington tomorrow night is meeting with opposition.
After putting up posters announcing the visit, one
student noticed that the posters were all taken down
within ten minutes. Also, one of the students involved
with the event was advised to meet with the diversity
representative on campus before finalizing the plans for
Mike Heath’s visit. The campus representative for Maine
Won’t Discriminate insisted on turning the speech into a
debate with a moderator “in the interest of fairness.”
The moderator suggested for the proposed debate was, of
course, a very “liberal” professor. Also, the customary
e-mail from the university announcing Mike Heath’s visit
was mysteriously delayed. The actions of these pro-gay
rights activists speak volumes about their real
commitment to “tolerance” and “diversity of opinion.” -

The speech will be held
tomorrow evening October 11th, at 7:30 at the University
of Maine Farmington campus, in the Thomas Auditorium.
HOW
THE MAINE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION BACKS THE HOMOSEXUAL
RIGHTS MOVEMENT -- AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT
Of all the backers of the hidden agenda of the
homosexual rights movement, the one that deserves the
careful notice of every parent in Maine is the Maine
Education Association. The MEA is listed as a “key
strategic partner” on the Maine Won’t Discriminate
website. And indeed they are a “key strategic partner”,
for what better ally could radical homosexual activists
hope to have than the public school teachers of Maine?
Opposing the radical homosexual
agenda can be dangerous. Just ask David Parker, the
father from Lexington Massachusetts who was jailed after
insisting he be told when his son was exposed to the
homosexual agenda. Parker decided to take a stand for
family rights after his six year old son brought home a
“diversity book bag” stuffed with books about diversity.
Among them was a book showing a homosexual couple and
their children.
David Parker believes that gay
rights laws of the kind recently passed in Maine are the
spearhead of a movement to teach our children that
homosexuality is normal and desirable.
At the same time homosexuality
is being taught as normal and desirable, radical
homosexual activists are working nonstop to oust the Boy
Scouts from our public schools. Just this spring,
Equality Maine, the largest homosexual lobbying group in
the state, gave an award to an activist who tried to
have some of the activities of the Boy Scouts banned
from the public school system in Portland.
When homosexual activists are
so shameless as to attack the Boy Scouts simply because
the Boy Scouts are fighting hard to keep their members
safe from pedophiles and sexual predators, the time has
come for all parents to get involved.
The Maine Education Association
has no business promoting a sick agenda at the expense
of the innocent children of Maine. The MEA is promoting
an agenda which is harmful to both the body and soul of
our children. No less a figure than Pope John Paul II
said that the push for same-sex marriage was part of "An
Ideology of Evil." And he was right. The MEA needs to be
reminded that the children in our public schools belong
to God and their parents, not to the government and the
MEA.
You can use the League’s
Citizen Action Center to send an e-mail to the Maine
Education Association demanding that they immediately
take action to respect FAMILY RIGHTS, not SPECIAL
RIGHTS. – by Fritz Spencer
