"Fearful lest it be relegated to the position of an isolated sect, Christianity seems to be making frenzied efforts at mimicry in order to escape being devoured by its enemies--a reaction that seems defensive, but is in fact self-destructive. In the hope of saving itself, it seems to be assuming the colors of its environment, but the result is that it loses its identity. . . ."
--Leszek Kolakowski, from Modernity on Endless Trial

HE PRESERVES THEM THAT LOVE HIM

“The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The LORD is nigh to all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

(Psalm 145:17-21)

QUOTATIONS OF THE DAY

“The louder he talked of his honor, the faster we counted our spoons.”

(Ralph Waldo Emerson)

“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

(Abraham Lincoln)

HOAX CRIMES – HOW THE GAY RIGHTS MOVEMENT PULLS THE WOOL OVER THE EYES OF JOHN Q. PUBLIC

The National Review was the first publication to give nationwide exposure to the occurrence of make-believe anti-gay hate crimes, which it gave the newly-minted name of “Hoax Crimes.” The number of crimes which are eventually proved to be caused by the alleged victim himself is astounding. In one case, at a university in Arizona, posters appeared around campus purportedly by a radical group which threatened ten homosexuals whose names appeared on the list. One week later, the person whose name was first on the list was found injured in her apartment. A review of a videotape from a concealed camera near the posters showed that the person who was injured was in fact the person who had put up the posters, a Lesbian professor at the university. In another notorious case, a gay activist was found to have set the door to his dorm room on fire three times in order to prove that homophobia was rampant on campus.

The August 19-25 2005 Portland Phoenix reported that Stephen Wessler had uncovered one alleged incident of discrimination against homosexuals and was asking for more. The incident allegedly occurred at the Greyrock Inn in Northeast Harbor. The RECORD has learned that the incident may have never taken place as reported.  According to our sources, there was never any discrimination against gays at the Greyrock Inn. When the inn asked the two homosexuals to move to a different room, they became rude and belligerent. At that point, the management told them they would have to leave – not because they were homosexual – but because they were acting inappropriately.

The RECORD is taking this opportunity to ask Stephen Wessler publicly if he routinely investigates the incidents he reports to the public as discrimination, or does he merely ask the public to accept each report of discrimination at face value? If he does not investigate each incident, what value does he think his reports of discrimination have for the public?

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS

It is often said that politics makes strange bedfellows. Never was this adage more true than in the case of Maine Won’t Discriminate, the state’s leading pro-homosexual rights organization. Although it tries hard to give the public the impression that it is the leader of a grassroots movement, the organizations it lists on its website as “key strategic partners” are interesting indeed. Some of them are listed here. Perhaps you have heard of them.

Maine Civil Liberties Union
Maine Democratic Party
Maine Council of Churches
Maine Education Association
Religious Coalition Against Discrimination
Labor Against Discrimination
League of Women Voters of Maine
Maine Green Independent Party
Maine College Democrats
The League of ***** [vulgar language deleted] Voters

Curiously, one of the organizations listed as a “key strategic partner” of Maine Won’t Discriminate provides abortions for women in the Bangor area - among other activities. According to the website of the Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center, the Bangor-based health provider offers “abortion” and “lesbian  healthcare” among other services.

HEATH CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION BY UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION

League Director Mike Heath called on state university officials to launch an investigation yesterday during an interview with Channel 7 Television News out of Bangor.  College Republicans will hold a press conference at the University of Southern Maine this afternoon objecting to the hijacking of student governments and university resources by the radical homosexual activist group "Maine Won't Discriminate."

The RECORD has learned that the USM Student Government has been taken over by Maine Won't Discriminate loyalists who plan to impose their will on Friday.  They are planning to choose sides on this controversial issue, ignoring the concerns and views of University staff and students who are YES voters.  Heath believes the student government should work to air the views of both sides in fair forums/debates, and they should encourage vigorous debate for educational purposes.  It is now obvious this isn't happening in our taxpayer funded University system.  All Maine taxpayers foot the bill for these institutions, not just politically motivated "gays."

Heath will deliver a speech at USM tonight.  Protestors are expected.  The public is invited.  The speech begins at 5 p.m. in Room 113 Masterton Hall. It will be a rare opportunity to hear a totally new perspective on society and politics.

Directions to Masterton Hall are as follows: Getting off on Bedford Street from Forest Avenue, you will find a large parking lot, and Woodbury Campus Center.  Please park in that parking lot. If you are unable to find a parking spot at that location, there is a parking garage which charges a small fee.

At the Woodbury Campus Center parking lot you will see stone steps.  Go up the steps and go through the door to your left.   Follow the signs to the classroom.    If you come from the parking garage you will cross the Alumni Sky Walk. Once you get off the Sky Walk take your first right.  The door will be on your right going down the stairs facing the Woodbury campus center parking lot.   Follow the signs to the classroom.  by Fritz Spencer
