MEETING
GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN
“Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and
Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of
Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of
sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity.
But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand.
So they saw God, and they ate and drank. Then the LORD said to
Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give
you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have
written, that you may teach them.”
(Exodus 24:10-12)
QUOTATIONS FOR THE DAY
"We may not all break the Ten Commandments,
but we are certainly all capable of it. Within us lurks the breaker
of all laws, ready to spring out at the first real opportunity."
(Isadora Duncan)
“You give us long enough to argue over
something and we will bring it to you in proofs to show that the Ten
Commandments should never be ratified.”
(Will Rogers)
"Somebody figured it out - we have 35
million laws trying to enforce the Ten Commandments."
(Earl Wilson)
GOVERNOR ELBOWS IN ON TELEVISED
DEBATE TO TELL THE PUBLIC
"I DO NOT SUPPORT GAY MARRIAGE"
In a bizarre development, Governor John
Baldacci contacted WCSH TV last night in an attempt to influence
the outcome of a televised debate between Michael Heath and Ted
O'Meara. The Governor apparently wanted to make one last attempt to
convice the voting public that the upcoming vote is in no way
related to the issue of same-sex marriage.
But no one anticipated what happened next,
as Michael Heath calmly responded that he has a copy of a newspaper
article in which the Governor is quoted as saying that he is for gay
marriage, only not now.
Ted O'Meara seemed ill at ease throughout
the debate, looking back and forth rapidly and giving the impression
that not even he believed what he was saying. When Michael Heath
said that a lawyer should at least know the correct meaning of the
word "transgendered" O'Meara looked very nonplussed.
It is perhaps the first time in U.S.
history that a Governor has edged his way into a televised debate.
Usually the participants discuss the issue under debate, and the
public decides based on what they have heard. But once again, this
Governor seems determined to make up their minds for them, which
after all, is a way of thinking that is not well-suited to a
democratic form of goverment. This is the thirteenth time that the
Governor and the Legislature have tried to add the phrase "sexual
orientation" to the Maine Human Rights Act, and they seem determined
not to take "No" for an answer.

was vandalized. Please note the “No” sign nearby which was left
untouched.
MORE INTOLERANCE AND INTIMIDATION
ON DISPLAY
As the vote on Question 1 nears, the League
is receiving more reports of stolen or vandalized signs. Yesterday,
Paul Madore, Director of the Maine Grassroots Coalition, reported
that hundreds of signs have been removed or vandalized across the
state.

More disturbing is the report of a
Christian business owner who reported that two gay rights activists
entered her store, and pointing to some “Vote YES on 1” campaign
literature, demanded to leave their pro-gay rights leaflets in the
store. When the owner calmly stated that the store was her property
and only she had a right to decide what material is left there, the
activists threatened to come back “with a crowd.”
In another development, the demonstration
in Boston last Saturday was apparently much worse than we had
believed. A sound wagon was left at the door of the church and the
protestors at the rally repeated a certain extremely obscene phrase
again and again through the loud speakers. One gay writer at the
protest reported that even he was frightened by the mood of the
crowd. In an article in New England’s largest “gay newspaper” he
wrote that the people at the door looked on “in horror” and that the
protestors seemed to the Christians like “hungry lions at feeding
time.”
MWD
RECEIVING STRONG SUPPORT FROM ELITES
Who is helping finance the Maine Won’t
Discriminate campaign? The latest document filed by Maine Won’t
Discriminate shows among others, a Harvard law professor, an
employee of the Washington Post, and an attorney of one of the most
powerful law firms in America. Another contributor to MWD will
remain nameless, because the name belongs to the wealthiest and most
powerful family in America.
Also contributing $1000 was “Q Channel” the
cable network devoted to the homosexual lifestyle.
9th CIRCUIT COURT DECLARES
PARENTHOOD UNCONSTITUTIONAL
The same court which recently outlawed the
Pledge of Allegiance has now ruled that parents have no right to
challenge what their children are taught in sex education classes.
In the words of the ruling, “There is no
fundamental right of parents to be the exclusive provider of
information regarding sexual matters to their children. Parents have
no due process or privacy right to override the determinations of
public schools as to the information to which their children will be
exposed while enrolled as students.”
In other words, the 9th Circuit Court has
now declared parenthood unconstitutional.
