"Fearful
lest it be relegated to the position of an isolated sect, Christianity
seems to be making frenzied efforts at mimicry in order to escape being
devoured by its enemies--a reaction that seems defensive, but is in fact
self-destructive. In the hope of saving itself, it seems to be assuming
the colors of its environment, but the result is that it loses its
identity. . . ."

The United Nations Association
of Maine
Certainly the oddest
organization we at The RECORD
have encountered so far, and the
organization least in keeping
with the spirit of Maine and its
people, is the United Nations
Association of Maine. It is
certainly not a grass roots
organization, but rather an
institution which has as its
sole objective to promote the
agenda of the UN.
The United Nations Association
grew out of the Association of
the League of Nations, and was
formed in New York to gain
public support for the UN.
Eleanor Roosevelt promoted the
organization on nationwide
tours, after she finished her
term as a representative to the
General Assembly in 1951.
The principle method the United
Nations Association of Maine
uses to gain public support for
the United Nations is by
indoctrinating impressionable
youth through the annual Maine
Model United Nations Conference
(MeMUNC), which is sponsored in
conjunction with the World
Affairs Council. In 2004, over
three hundred and fifty Maine
high school students from twenty
high schools participated. Nor
is the activity of the Model
United Nation Conferences
limited to Maine. It is part of
a global effort to indoctrinate
youth into the virtues of a one
world, global government, and is
conducted in high schools
throughout the English-speaking
world and beyond.
Included on the Board of
Directors of the United Nations
Association of Maine is Tom
Ewell, the Executive Director of
the Maine Council of Churches,
and an ardent supporter of “gay
rights.” Another member of the
Board of Directors is Thesil
Morlan who is also on the
Steering Committee of The World
Federalist Institute. Morlan is
also a member of the Board of
Advisors to the Citizens for
Global Solutions, an
organization funded by the
Rockefeller Brothers Institute.
Morlan is also a coordinator for
Amnesty International, and
reports on human rights abuses
in Western Europe.
Closer to home, Sarah Walton,
who sits on the Board of
Directors of the United Nations
Association of Maine was the
past President of the League of
Women Voters of Maine, and is
currently a director of that
organization.
And most astonishing of all is
the fact that the columnist that
the Portland Press Herald uses
to put forward Liberal ideas
that it wants to showcase –
Victoria-Mares Hershey – is also
a member of the Board of
Directors of the United Nations
Association of Maine. Little did
the public know!

Pro-Gay Bias Compromises Study
on Discrimination
According to a report on the
Equality Maine website, a survey
will soon be underway to
document the extent of
discrimination against
homosexuals in Maine. But who
will conduct the study? None
other than the Center for the
Prevention of Hate Violence,
which operates out of the
University of Southern Maine,
and is headed by Stephen L.
Wessler.
Wessler was a contributor to the
campaign of Dale McCormick, a
lesbian activist who was elected
to the Maine Senate three times
in the 1990s, and who is
currently Director of the Maine
State Housing Authority. Betsy
Sweet, McCormick’s former
“domestic partner” is currently
a consultant to the Center for
the Prevention of Hate Violence.
Wessler had obtained federal
funding under the Clinton
administration to set up the
so-called “Civil Rights Teams”
in the public schools in Maine,
and Betsy Sweet wrote the
curriculum and training
material.
A study on homosexual
discrimination which is
designed, administered, and
interpreted by homosexuals will
be about as fair and objective
as a Mafia report on organized
crime. Some reports of
discrimination will of course
come out of this study. But if
you believe that the reports
will be fair and objective,
there’s a bridge in Brooklyn
we’d like to sell you.
