"Fearful
lest it be relegated to the position of an isolated sect, Christianity
seems to be making frenzied efforts at mimicry in order to escape being
devoured by its enemies--a reaction that seems defensive, but is in fact
self-destructive. In the hope of saving itself, it seems to be assuming
the colors of its environment, but the result is that it loses its
identity. . . ."

Surely there is
no place more
sacred to the
American people
than Plymouth
Rock, a place
hallowed by the
victory of faith
and
righteousness
over
overwhelming
danger. There a
persecuted and
weary band of
Christians
sought a refuge
in which to
worship God as
they chose. To
make the
perilous journey
across the
Atlantic they
sacrificed all
they owned, and
received in
return a bare
patch of land in
a hostile
wilderness. The
first winter,
the weaker of
the women and
children died
from starvation
or disease as
the others knelt
beside their
bedside in
prayer. But
their sacrifices
were repaid a
hundred-fold, a
thousand-fold,
for out of their
devotion to the
Lord God
Jehovah, grew
the mightiest
and most
righteous nation
the world has
ever
known….America.
Oh, what a shame
to see their
name, and the
name of America
dragged through
the mud, to be
tread upon, and
spit upon by
modern liberals!
Who can bear to
look upon the
face of the
innocent Pilgrim
women and
children and
hear such
slander?
But that is
exactly what is
happening now at
the place where
the Pilgrims are
“honored.” Take
for example the
plaque which
shows a modern
liberal account
of American
history. The
plaque implies
that the most
important thing
the Pilgrims
brought to the
New World was
“Kidnapping and
Plague.” Not
only was it a
plague, but a
“European-borne”
plague, as if
the Pilgrims
were
“disease-bearing
animals.”
Rodents,
perhaps? Or
merely flies?

claim was a
typical day in
the life of the
Pilgrims.
