"Fearful
lest it be relegated to the position of an isolated sect, Christianity
seems to be making frenzied efforts at mimicry in order to escape being
devoured by its enemies--a reaction that seems defensive, but is in fact
self-destructive. In the hope of saving itself, it seems to be assuming
the colors of its environment, but the result is that it loses its
identity. . . ."

"For we brought nothing into
this world, and it is certain we
can carry nothing out. And
having food and raiment let us
be therewith content. But they
that will be rich fall into
temptation and a snare, and into
many foolish and hurtful lusts,
which drown men in destruction
and perdition. For the love of
money is the root of all evil:
which while some coveted after,
they have erred from the faith,
and pierced themselves through
with many sorrows. But thou, O
man of God, flee these things;
and follow after righteousness,
godliness, faith, love,
patience, meekness."

MOOSE RIDGE ASSOCIATES
One useful place for beginning a
study of the shadow government
in Augusta which controls policy
from behind the scenes, is the
Maine Character Education
Partnership, a state agency
dedicated, oddly enough, to the
moral character of the students
of Maine – that is of course,
after they have been
indoctrinated into the ethics of
globalism, the virtues of
abortion, and the acceptability
of the homosexual lifestyle. One
of the entities involved in the
Maine Character Education
Partnership is the Institute for
Global Ethics, which seeks to
teach all the ethics needed for
a post-Christian, global
society. Unknown to almost all
parents in Maine is that the
state government operates a
Commission on Ethical and
Responsible Student Behavior,
which is chaired by the founder
of the Institute for Global
Ethics. Exactly what system of
ethics has replaced our
Christian values in the public
schools might bear looking into.
Another individual involved in
the Maine Character Education
Partnership is Betsy Sweet of
Moose Ridge Associates, and
thereby hangs a tale. Sweet was
the long time domestic partner
of Dale McCormick. McCormick was
the first woman elected state
treasurer and was also the first
lesbian elected to the state
Senate. McCormick founded the
Maine Gay-Lesbian Political
Alliance in 1984. Sweet, herself
a Lesbian activist, went on to
become the Executive Director of
the Maine Woman’s Lobby, and is
currently the president of Moose
Ridge Associates, and is in on
the board of directors of the
Maine Citizen Leadership Fund
which leads campaigns for a
number of so-called “progressive
causes.” Betsy Sweet helped
found the “Civil Rights Teams”
which work to advance the
homosexual agenda in our public
schools, and was also the
director of the Maine Commission
for Women.
Another principle in Moose Ridge
Associates is Karen Geraghty.
Geraghty became Executive
Director of the Maine Lesbian
Gay Political Alliance, then
city councilor in Portland three
times, and finally, the mayor of
Portland. It was under her
direction that the Portland City
Council shut down funds for the
Salvation Army’s Wheels on Meals
for senior citizens because the
Salvation Army would not offer
health insurance for homosexual
employees.
Moose Ridge Associates has been
a leading exponent of Liberal
causes, and a powerful lobbying
organization since 1990. It is
impossible to overemphasize its
role in influencing state
government. Perhaps its greatest
success was its collaboration
with Governor Baldacci on the
Dirigo Health Plan.

Although those in the gay rights
movement are quick to lecture
the Religious Right on the need
for tolerance and understanding,
their sentiments sometimes run
to the opposite extreme.
Although it is
widely-acknowledged that a
hidden homosexual subculture
does exist, The RECORD was
shocked to learn that a chapter
of the “Pink Pistols” has opened
in Maine. The Pink Pistols,
which now has thirty-five
chapters in the U.S. and one in
Canada, encourages homosexuals
to become proficient in the use
of handguns. The Maine chapter
of the Pink Pistols is named
after Roger Casement who was
hanged for delivering arms to
the Irish Rebellion, and
arguably was or was not a
homosexual and a pedophile - a
charge strongly denied by his
friends and family.
The website of the Pink Pistols
is hardly a testimonial to the
virtues of tolerance and
compassion. Instead, their
website shows a handgun blazing
away at no target in particular
and a caption in pink which
reads “Armed Gays Don’t get
Bashed.” But the most recent
crime statistics compiled by the
FBI show that crimes against
gays represent less than one out
of ten thousand of all crimes
committed in the U.S. In
contrast, one detailed
scientific study shows that
gay-on-gay violence leads to a
homicide rate among homosexuals
which is hundreds of times
higher than in the rest of the
population. This, among other
factors, leads to an average
lifespan of 40 years for male
homosexuals, and an average
lifespan of 45 years for
Lesbians.* The all too obvious
conclusion to be drawn from this
is that if homosexuals truly
wish to be safe, the answer is
not to carry a gun. It is to
refrain from the homosexual
lifestyle.

Do you want to help save
individuals and families from
gambling addiction? Do you want
to keep slot machines and high
stakes gambling from becoming a
staple right next the state
lottery machines and bread aisle
in your local mom and pop
grocery store?
Las Vegas gambling interests
snuck slot machine approval
under the nose of concerned
Mainers in 2003. Now they are
pushing for expansion into
Washington County. Bangor has
BIG slot machine plans. They are
the only city or town,
currently, with approval to
install them. The mechanism for
"managing" the slots -- what
some addiction experts call the
crack cocaine of gambling -- is
being assembled by state
government even now.
There is hope. For months now a
small group of dedicated
individuals have been
circulating a petition. If these
dedicated individuals who call
themselves "No Slots for ME" can
collect 51,000 signatures before
October then Maine people will
once again vote on whether they
want slots legalized in Maine.
League attorney Steve Whiting is
one of the board members, a
courageous and clear thinking
Christian, who has stepped up to
lead this effort. The League's
board of directors has
enthusiastically endorsed the
petition drive.
To make it possible to finish
this campaign a VERY generous
donor has issued a $25,000
challenge. They will match every
donation up to a total of
$25,000. One donor agreed to
give the first $5,000. This
donor is challenging four other
businessmen or individuals to
join him in giving $5,000 each.
Donations must be given to "No
Slots for Maine." That is the
group formed by the small group
of dedicated individuals. You
can mail your checks to us and
we will forward them to "No
Slots for ME."
Mail your checks to "No Slots
for ME, c/o the Christian Civic
League of Maine, 70 Sewall
Street, Augusta, ME 04330." You
must make sure that you make it
clear on the check that you
intend for your donation to go
to "No Slots for ME."
