"Fearful lest it be relegated to the position of an isolated sect, Christianity seems to be making frenzied efforts at mimicry in order to escape being devoured by its enemies--a reaction that seems defensive, but is in fact self-destructive. In the hope of saving itself, it seems to be assuming the colors of its environment, but the result is that it loses its identity. . . ."

The Unforgivable Sin
“Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.”

The Value of History
QUOTATIONS OF THE DAY

"Thrice happy is the nation that has a glorious history. Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."

(Theodore Roosevelt)

"Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country."

(Noah Webster)

Augusta Exposed - The ROSC and 'Changing Maine'
The virtue of a spider’s web is its invisibility. If it were a bit larger or a bit darker, it might be seen in time to be avoided. So it is that organizations which go by the name of ‘peace and justice’ often pursue an agenda which is quite different from the one they advertise to the public. Hidden behind the noble-sounding names of ‘peace and justice” lurk the destructive doctrines of the Far Left, long recognized by most of the world as bogus, but sanitized, touched up, and repackaged to escape the notice of a new generation of dupes.

Such an organization is the ROSC, or Resources for Organizing Social Change, a homegrown group which hopes to radically transform our society. The name formerly given to the group, INVERT, (The Institute for Nonviolent Education Research and Training) is an indication of what its founders have in mind for the people of Maine. Their website lists a number of liberal causes, but the cause it gives the most prominence to is the effort to change Thanksgiving into a “National Day of Mourning,” presumably because of the crimes of the Pilgrim Fathers. Quite an inversion indeed!

The goal which drives the ROSC is the classless society. The ROSC regularly holds workshops and talks on the subject of ending “classism.” The ROSC is an affiliate of the War Resisters League, one of four groups which are the most active in holding anti-war demonstrations across the country. The War Resisters League is itself an affiliate of the International War Resisters League, an organization which has worked hand and hand with various Far Left movements since the 1920s.

The focus of the ROSC is grassroots organizing. It publishes a “Changing Maine Directory” which lists virtually every left-wing and New Age Group in Maine. “Changing Maine” is also the name of the annual conference the ROSC holds in Augusta.

The website of the ROSC claims that the ROSC and its staff members helped start both the Peace and Justice Center of Eastern Maine, and MaineShare. MaineShare, which has its headquarters at the Pine Tree State Arboretum in Augusta, is an extremely powerful coalition of left-wing organizations, and includes among its members the Equality Maine Foundation, the state’s largest pro-homosexual group, Maine Equal Justice, the MCLU, The Natural Resources Council of Maine, the Maine Womens Lobby, and many more.

MaineShare was the first organization other than The United Way to run a state employee charity campaign. Since 1996, MaineShare has had a contract with the state to collect money from state employees for the purpose of charitable giving.

According to the website of MaineShare, it raised $439,176 dollars from state employees in 2001. Separate from its efforts to raise funds for charity, MaineShare raised $1,230,000 for its member organizations since its creation in 1989.

Photos of San Diego 'Gay Pride' Parade Removed from Website
Readers of yesterday’s RECORD who used the link to the website which contained the photos from San Diego’s “Gay Pride” parade were surprised to find that the photos had been removed.

The RECORD is looking into why the photos were removed, and apologizes for the inconvenience.

Double Your Money
Dear Friends and Supporters of the League,

We have been trying to get the word out that a Christian foundation has offered to double any giving that is what they call “new money” given to the League in this calendar year of 2005. That means any giving that is from a new source or over and above any other regular giving to the League will be matched by the foundation.

They have committed up to a total of $10,000 in matching funds for this year of 2005. They will match up to $500 per church, organization or individual during this time period.

Now they have even made it easier. When we first announced the offer, churches had to notify the foundation of their giving. The foundation would then mail a check made out to that church asking the church to deposit the check into their account and then write a check on the church’s account to the League.

HERE’S THE NEW SIMPLIFIED PLAN:

Now all you have to do is let me know when you have donated any “new money” to the League and I will take if from there. I will be keeping the giving records and will notify the foundation who will simply send a check off to the League.

It couldn’t be easier. ANY NEW GIVING WILL BE DOUBLED UP TO THE END OF 2005!

The League especially needs your help as we enter the final phase of educating the people in Maine in our attempt to preserve traditional family values and marriage in Maine. There is the important vote in November and education about the issue before then is essential. And now all new giving will be matched by the foundation. What a blessing!!

Many churches pledged to give to the League for the People’s Veto signature drive. Many have met their pledge and some haven’t yet. If your church has given to the League, all you have to do is let me know how much you gave and it will be matched, up to $500. The funds are desperately needed at this time and that giving most definitely comes under the “new money” category.

Please let me know if you have any questions. My contact information is below if you need further clarification.

Thank you for your consideration and your generosity.
