For still our ancient foe doth
seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabbaoth, his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.
And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The Prince of Darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo, his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.
(Martin Luther)

Those looking for the final proof that abortion,
same-sex marriage, and euthanasia are all part of
an “Ideology of Evil” need look no further than a
cartoon produced by Planned Parenthood in San
Francisco. The cartoon, aimed at teenagers, is an
eight-minute long advertisement for sexual
promiscuity, in which condoms are laughingly
handed out to children, much like what happened
during the ‘Gay’ Expo in the State House last May.
But this is not the most shocking part of the
cartoon. As incredible as it may seem, the hero of
the cartoon is named Dianysis, who dressed as the
Devil, makes a point of killing Christians. In one
scene, protestors outside a Planned Parenthood
Clinic are blown up; in another scene, they are
decapitated. The cartoon begins by showing an
evangelist dressed in a costume reminiscent of a
Puritan, who is drowned in a trash can. The
character named Dianysius boils a U.S. Senator in
a caldron, turning him into a roast pig. Crosses
are shown throughout in a subtle manner, as if to
hint at who the enemy really is.
The symbolism of the cartoon is truly bizarre. The
name of the hero ‘Dianysius’ is a variation of the
name, ‘Dionysius,’ called by the Romans ‘Bacchus.’
The cult of Bacchus in the words of the Roman
historian Livy, “left no sort of crime, no sort of
sexual immorality unattempted,” and came
perilously close to destroying the Roman Empire.
In the cartoon, Dianysius is shown dressed in a
red costume with horns, which are prominently
displayed every time a group of Christians is
confronted.
You can download and watch the cartoon by clicking
on the link below.
Planned Parenthood quickly removed the cartoon
from its website for teens, after the general
public discovered what the pro-abort group was up
to. Perhaps it is time for citizens to ask why
their tax money, to the tune of one-million plus
dollars per year, is used to subsidize an
organization which uses a cartoon glorifying the
Devil to promote sexual promiscuity among our
youth. Or would that be asking too much?

Perhaps many of us are asking, “How much am I
willing to give to the struggle against the
“Ideology of Evil?” There was once another
“Ideology of Evil” that threatened to gain the
upper hand in our nation, and that was the evil of
slavery. Many have forgotten that the symbol of
that fight was a Mainer from the town of Albion,
by the name of Elijah Parish Lovejoy.
Lovejoy was an ordained minister who decided he
could fight slavery more effectively by becoming a
journalist. In 1833, Lovejoy became the editor of
the St. Louis Observer, an anti-slavery newspaper.
His editorials which exposed the practice of
lynching so enraged his neighbors that he was
driven out of St. Louis. Moving across the
Mississippi River into the small town of Alton,
Illinois, he continued to print the Observer.
Twice his printing presses were hurled into the
Mississippi River. Each time, he refused to give
in, and bravely struggled back, continuing his
life’s work. The third time the mob went to
destroy his paper, Lovejoy defended his property,
with the result that he was shot through the
heart.
The parallels to our own day are obvious. Like the
abolitionists, those who challenge the “Ideology
of Evil” are in the minority. They have to endure
the taunts of the mass media, and the ridicule of
the public at large. And as in the case of
slavery, our nation can expect only the most dire
consequences unless the “Ideology of Evil” -
abortion, same-sex marriage, and euthanasia – is
not completely uprooted and removed from the life
of our people.
The photo at the right shows the ninety-five foot
high monument to Lovejoy in Alton, Illinois.

Be sure to plan to attend the upcoming League
banquet in October. This year’s event promises to
be the most exciting ever, with a keynote speech
to be delivered by Rabbi Daniel Lapin of the
organization “Towards Tradition.” Rabbi Lapin is
an outspoken defender of traditional values and
the family, and a strong critic of the values of
secular humanism.
The theme of the event is Micah 6:8 “He hath shown
thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD
require of thee, but to do justly, and to love
mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
In view of the need at this critical hour in our
nation’s history for Christians to start speaking
with a prophetic voice, the League will offer
tables named after the prophets of the Old
Testament. Tables can be sponsored at the
following levels:
Jeremiah: $1000 includes a table with seating and
meals for eight to ten people, and a signed copy
of Rabbi Lapin's book for each person.
Jonah: $500 includes a table with seating and
meals for eight to ten people.
Daniel: $250 includes a half table with seating
and meals for four to five people.
In addition, the League will hold its annual
awards ceremony, and music will be provided by
Paulie Heath.
Seating will be limited, so please make
arrangements early.
The banquet will be held at the Senator Inn in
Augusta on October 7th, starting at 6:00.
