Soon after committing his life to Christ Heath decided that he isn't a mean Christian. University of Chicago church historian Martin Marty says that there are two kinds of people on earth -- mean and non-mean. While some people perceive him as mean as a result of his faithful stand on political issues related to human sexuality, everybody knows that he isn't mean. Heath is principled and plain spoken. In an age of dissembling public relations experts Heath's refreshing style helps listeners think anew about vexing and confusing forces that are undermining durable institutions in Maine and America.
Every day Heath's voice can be heard in print, on the radio or on television in Maine. He produces a daily two minute radio commentary program called "Faith Matters in Maine." He often appears as a guest columnist in newspapers and he has been interviewed by every television station in Maine, and by many national and international news networks.
Heath's Christianity does not remain either within the four walls of his home or his church. Daily he thinks and writes about taking the gospel of Christ beyond those four walls and out into the marketplace of ideas, politics and culture. This commitment has enabled him to be involved in dozens of statewide campaigns over the years, many ending in surprising victories.
Downeast magazine says that Heath, "knows more about the evangelical movement in Maine than anyone else."
Heath lives in South China with his wife, Paulie, and their three sons.

Paulie is a contemporary Christian musician. She has produced four CDs and written dozens of songs. She travels all over Maine and New England speaking at womens retreats in addition to the couples retreats that she and Mike lead. A listener said of Paulie's latest release entitled "Let us adore Him," "I've fallen in love again! With Christmas tunes I once thought stale, with the silky richness of Paulie's voice, and, most of all, with the Savior who left the glories of heaven to step into our dark, forbidding world. May His light shine into the hearts of all who hear these marvelous, uplifting songs!"
